Sakaduki Brewing is a great little brewpub in Kita Senju. Kita Senju is a relatively lesser known city of central Tokyo that has a lot of character. Sakaduki is located in the heart of this old town area with a lot of colourful characters visiting. The beers are great and the story of the owner/brewer is wonderful.

Sakaduki’s Nanobrewery
Sakaduki is just a short walk from Kita Senju Station on a quiet side street that is more of an alley than an actual street. The front of the brewpub is pretty nondescript and easy to miss without the sandwich board out front. I really like the simplicity but it can be difficult to find for first timers.

Inside, you have a nice spacious area with big tables and small tables combined. There is a beautiful glass window showing you the entire brewery. This nanobrewery is small but very cute. The furniture is a hodgepodge of tables and chairs so you really need to find the one that you prefer. It was really fun to see a nice mix of chairs and tables and deciding which is best for you, means you will need to visit often to find your perfect spot.

The food was really good and they have a good young chef. He has his base in French cuisine but does a lot of imagining creating uniquely Japanese takes on western style dishes as well. I only had the liver pate with a few pickles. While it wasn’t a lot, it was really good and I really hope my next visit will include food.

Chef of Sakaduki Brewing
The beers are the main focal point of Sakaduki Brewing. The brewer used to work in Asahi Breweries before venturing out on her own to create her own brewery. She loves to experiment with different styles and it was fun to see a good variety of beers. She is still loyal to Asahi Super Dry and has it on tap too. While it isn’t the most promoted beer it is a great palate cleanser if you are going through a lot of different beers.

Beer and Food of Sakaduki Brewing
Sakaduki Brewing is a great place and there is a lot more about the head brewer, Shoko Kanayama. I was lucky enough to have time to sit down and talk with her. You definitely have to hear her story over at Taiheiyogan’s YouTube channel. If you have time, you also have to go to Sakaduki Brewing yourself as you will not be disappointed. I know I will be going back again someday.
