I had heard a lot about Brassneck Brewery before I had even visited the taproom. It was one of the main breweries that I knew I had to visit, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to get a decent taste of their beers. I was only able to visit once but I was very happy that I did visit their shop.
From the moment you enter the taproom, you are hit with a feeling of being in a hipster only brewery, but that changes quickly with the friendliness of the staff. The wood interior really worked well and if you time things well you’ll be able to smell the magical wort of beer as it is being brewed. Unfortunately you cannot actually see the brewery side from the taproom as there is a large wall preventing you from looking in.
Brassneck has a large selection of beers on tap, which makes it very difficult to try everything. On my first visit I got a flight of beers, but I was not really satisfied. I visited Brassneck on my second night in Vancouver and I was still feeling a little jetlag. It was a mistake to get a flight of beers but since I wanted to try a lot of beers, I felt I should try as many as possible. They can be a bit strong but they are all wonderful beers. I only really got to try their Passive Aggressive (IPA) properly as I bought a growler of it for home.
The merchandise at Brassneck was really interesting. They were one of the few places with 1L growlers with pop tops. There are a variety of designs for the 1L growlers so you can easily choose whatever works best for you. I was happy to get a standard one and I did want a T-shirt as well but there wasn’t a single design that I really gravitated to. I could easily spend 20 minutes just looking at the merchandise and contemplating buying more and more of them.
I feel bad that I didn’t have a chance to give Brassneck a really good chance, so you can be sure that I will be back again. The only problem with Brassneck is that they are almost always busy and a friend of mine said that it can be difficult to get in. Sometimes there is a line outside and that just shows how popular they are.
