When I was in Dogo, I made a point to visit Dogo Beer. It is a popular brewery in Matsuyama and their beer is everywhere now. They are a good brewery and I do enjoy their beers, although I have fallen for Umenishiki more. Dogo Beer’s main brewery is located just a short walk from the shopping area in Dogo and their Nigitatsu-an is actually an expensive washoku restaurant. Thankfully they also have a small retail shop next door.
The Dogo Beer retail shop is a really good place. It is small and only takes a few minutes to look around. They do offer a little sake sampling but the main draw would be the crafts. You can buy Dogo Beer glasses, sake glasses, and a variety of other souvenirs from the shop. If you are looking to buy their beer, you are better off going to the airport to buy bottles and then bring them home with you, but if you want to get souvenirs, you need to go to this shop.
The shop itself is across the entrance of the Nigitatsu-an and it isn’t very inviting. There is a standard curtain at the door to invite you in and once you are inside it is pretty small. It really doesn’t take much time to visit the area and you can finish within a few minutes. Unless you are a hardcore beer nut like me, you probably won’t want to visit Dogo Beer. I was happy I did as I could get a 1L growler that was already capped and another small carrying case so I was happy. If you are in the area and have some time, the Dogo Beer shop is a nice place to visit.
