Odaiba is famous for being a date spot in Tokyo. You can do all sorts of activities from visiting a small amusement park to shopping till you drop. The area still has a lot of open spaces which makes it an ideal location for several venues. A lot of the venues are probably similar to the original 2016 Olympic bid that failed.
Odaiba Marine Park
Odaiba Marine Park is located between Rainbow Bridge and the Odaiba shopping malls. Not a lot will be done to the area aside from possibly adding a grand stand or two to the beach. It will be the start of the marathon swimming event and the triathlon. I shudder to think what the swimmers will be swimming in, but I know the water is still safe enough.
Odaiba Marine Park (Odaiba Kaihin Koen) will host the marathon swimming and triathlon events.
Shiokaze Park
Shiokaze Park once held a large Gundam model, which is currently at the adjacent DiverCity shopping mall. Shiokaze Park will become the location for the beach volleyball events. They will build a temporary building as beach volleyball doesn’t require such a large stadium and it isn’t that popular yet.

Tokyo Big Site Hall A & B
Tokyo Big Site will be a very busy location. Located near Ariake, it will primarily be known as the media centre for the entire games. Tokyo Big Site is a huge convention hall but it doesn’t really feel that big. Hall A will be used for wrestling and Hall B will be used for fencing and taekwondo. Thankfully the facility has already been built and will only need a few touch ups to be ready for the games.
Tokyo Big Site will hold the wrestling, fencing, and taekwondo events for 2020.
Update (July 2016): The wrestling, fencing, and taekwondo events have been moved to Makuhari Messe.
Seaside Park Hockey Stadium
The Seaside Park Hockey Stadium will be a brand new facility that will be built in Oi, near the Tokyo Race Course. It is close to Haneda Airport and not really a part of Odaiba, but there really wasn’t any other area to put it in. The organizers say it will be maintained as a field hockey stadium to help future generations develop and improve Japan’s ranking in this sport, but I don’t think it will be as useful to be honest. It will be a nice facility but being located in Oi means it won’t be well used, but it could be in a worse location.
